GUY LYON PLAYFAIR (5 April 1935 – 8 April 2018) was a British author, journalist and psychical researcher. Born in Quetta, British India (now Pakistan), he studied modern languages at Pembroke College, Cambridge. He spent fourteen years in Brazil, working as a freelance journalist for The Economist, Time and the Associated Press, and spending four years in the press section of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). He wrote twelve books, beginning with The Flying Cow, which explored his investigations into paranormal phenomena in Brazil. He was best known for This House Is Haunted, his account of the Enfield poltergeist investigation with Maurice Grosse. His other books include Twin Telepathy: The Psychic Connection, which examined reports of apparent telepathy between twins. He was a council member of the Society for Psychical Research and a regular contributor to its journal.
