Dr. Nick Richbell is an archivist and historian whose fascination with Spiritualism began in the archives. He earned his PhD from the University of Waterloo where his research focused on Maurice Barnanell, long-time editor of Psychic News, and Barbanell’s spirit guide, Silver Birch. While Silver Birch’s teachings remain well known, Barbanell has largely faded from view. Richbell’s work seeks to bring Barbanell back into the story. His career has also involved work with séance papers, trance lectures, and rare audio recordings that document lived Spiritualist practice. Originally from London, England, Nick has lived and worked in France, Spain, Canada, and the United States.
